🌿🚣♀️ Canal Clean-Up Day in Devizes! 🚮✨ On 4th September, our amazing team from Awdry Law took time out of the office to roll up their sleeves and give back to our community. Some opted for a picturesque walk along the towpath, litter-pickers in hand, while others faced the canal head-on in canoes, thanks to the brilliant support of Devizes Canoe Club. It was all plain sailing and no one got wet… until… well, let’s just say there were a few splashes! 😅 Luckily, plenty of laughter followed and memories were made. A huge thank you to the SDG team, Devizes Canoe Club, and all our enthusiastic volunteers for making the day such a success. Our waterways are vital to local wildlife, as well as to the social and economic wellbeing of our towns. We’re proud to play a part in protecting these habitats and look forward to more events like this.

The 'Haunted High Tea' event

On Thursday 30th October, at the beautiful Bowood Estate, we hosted an afternoon of eerie elegance, mysterious mingling, and connections that could last a lifetime.
The game was based around the popular show &#8216;The Traitors&#8217;.
What a fantastic afternoon we had! There were missions, deceit, and plenty of suspense. Some of the traitors were discovered… but not all of them meaning they ultimately took the win!
We had so many laughs and such great fun with all of our wonderful guests.
Afterwards, we all enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea.
🦇 This event was designed to be inclusive, interactive, and just a little bit wicked.

Royal Wootton Bassett History Mural

At Awdry Law, we’re committed to supporting projects that bring our communities together.
We’re proud to have supported the creation of the Royal Wootton Bassett History Mural, a fantastic community project involving a local primary school celebrating the rich heritage of the town. The mural illustrates key moments from Royal Wootton Bassett’s history and will be a lasting piece of public art.
It was extra special to attend the unveiling event where the Mayor was also in attendance.

Some of our Sustainable Development team attended the TBE Sustainability Event on 11th September, where they connected with industry peers to share best practices, explore new ideas, and discover innovative approaches to bring back to our own Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) work. It was a great opportunity to collaborate, learn, and stay inspired as we continue driving forward our sustainability commitments. 🌱💡

Devizes School Meals Sponsor

We were incredibly proud to sponsor Buddy, the heart behind Lunchbox Buddy, who made it his mission to ensure that no child in Devizes went without lunch during the school holidays (Summer of 2025).
🥪 Buddy made over 50 free lunches a day, 3–4 times a week, and gave them out to any child in need.

Inclusive Golf Lessons

We recognise the importance of inclusive networking opportunities and so one of our Partners, Rachel Fereday, has arranged golf lessons for all of those interested in learning a new sport that can also lead to new business relationships.
We are thrilled that 25 women have taken up the opportunity and lessons will be running throughout April and May, with a final tournament to put what we have learnt to the test.
We are looking forward to seeing members of our network out on the golf course soon!

Garden Glow Up

In May 2025, our teams rolled up their sleeves to plant, prune, weed, and refresh our outdoor spaces and brought nature indoors with vibrant herbs and greenery.
Together, we are helping to create welcoming environments that support local wildlife and lift our everyday surroundings.
Of course, no green effort is complete without pizza and refreshing drinks to keep energy high.

International Women's Day Event

We hosted an International Women’s Day event on Monday 10th March at Bowood for all members of our firm to celebrate the magnificent contribution already made by the women at Awdry Law and to discuss how we continue to #accelerateaction. We were delighted to be joined by inspirational speaker, Nicola Jones who is a former barrister and now expert legal trainer, who has a flare for engaging an audience and providing thought-provoking ideas.
We are also now officially signed up the Women Empowerment Principles.

World Book Day Swap

This year World Book Day took place on Thursday 6^th March 2025 and we organised a firmwide Book Swap/ Book Donation in line with our Sustainable Development Goal of NO POVERTY. We encouraged our team to donate any books they have at home. Books were swapped between the Book Swap shelves established in each office to rotate the books available in each office. At the end of the day, left over books were donated to charity to support our local communities.

Domestic Abuse Training

Domestic Abuse training was provided by FearFree Charity to members of staff in support of the 16 Days of Action Against Domestic Abuse campaign, which is one of our targets for Gender Equality. It is so important in our professional and personal lives to be able to notice the signs of Domestic Abuse and have the ability to signpost people to those who can provide critical support and assistance.

Male Allyship Event (Wiltshire Community Foundation)

In support of Gender Equality we part-sponsored the WCF’s event on promoting gender equality through male allyship, which members of our management board also attended. The event had some fascinating speakers, all providing their own insight and advice on how organisations can improve inclusivity and equality at all levels.

No Poverty Campaign

We launched our ‘No Poverty’ campaign, which is part of our commitment to the United Nations&#8217; global goals.
Starting Tuesday 15 October, our amazing team of volunteers served those in need at Swindon&#8217;s Big Breakfast+ in the Pilgrim Centre, Swindon, and Devizes Opendoors at the Southbroom Centre, Devizes. We offered warm meals, friendly conversations, and a sense of community.
We also partnered with local charities, including Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, and Swindon food banks, to recycle and donate household items, clothes, and non-perishable food items.
Our clients can drop off their donations at our office, and we’ll ensure they get to where they’re needed most.
We look forward to running a further &#8216;No Poverty&#8217; campaign in Autumn 2025.
