Paul Walshe

Partner and Head of Contentious Probate
Office(s):
About Paul

I joined Awdry Law in 2015 from one of the region’s largest law firms, and became a partner in 2019. I manage the firm’s new Bath office.

Having qualified in 1997 I have a wealth of experience in a broad range of civil disputes including commercial litigation, professional negligence, property disputes and contract claims. However, I am recognised for particular expertise in contentious probate and landlord and tenant law.

I am a full member of The Association of Contentious Trusts & Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) and act in a range of claims including:

  • Disputes over the validity of wills based on lack of capacity, undue influence, fraud and due execution
  • Claims for reasonable financial provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975
  • Claims against executors and trustees
  • Contested Court of Protection claims

I have acted for some of the country’s largest letting agents and insurers, authored legal precedents for RICS and for many years gave training courses for ARLA/NAEA Propertymark members. I provide a landlord and tenant legal helpline for local agents.

My approach to dispute resolution is to robustly advance the claims of each client whilst always keeping commerciality in mind. In claims which are often complex, I provide straightforward, jargon free advice and honest appraisals of the merits of each claim.

I live with my wife, two children and a dog. When they aren’t fully occupying my time, I enjoy keeping fit and am an avid golfer, and writer.

What clients say about Paul

“I cannot begin to thank you enough for taking our case on when others wouldn’t. Your experience, guidance and support was invaluable during a sensitive and protracted time for us. Not only will we use you and your company for any future legal needs but will recommend you to friends or family.”

“Paul was very friendly, easy to understand, he explained everything in easy terms. A good solicitor and very approachable.”

“It was a real pleasure to deal with you along the process as -beyond the successful outcome- your legal advice & work were of high quality, clear and well-structured and produced in a timely manner. More specifically, it was really appreciated to notice that you had an in depth understanding of the details of the situation. I am also very pleased with the outcome of the claim. Thank you for making my first encounter with the UK legal system such a smooth experience!”

“I wanted to personally write and thank you now that finally everything has ended in regards to mum’s estate. It has been a very long 3 yrs, and it has been the most upsetting and stressful matter I have ever or probably will ever deal with in my life. At times it has not been easy. I want to thank you for getting me through it with your professional expert advice, and even your quips that made me laugh at times. Your gentle but sturdy resolve in dealing with the other side made everything worthwhile, when at times I wanted to throw the towel in. If it wasn’t for you Paul, my parents’ legacy to me their daughter would not have been possible. Of course I would rather them here in my life, but the outcome will always help me in life, I can now start my life again. Thank you to your team to Lisa and Jeanie for dealing also with the nitty gritty of everything, not forgetting the lovely Sandra, whom I always enjoyed chatting. I wish you and the firm all the best for the future.”
