Our 2022 golf day raises vital funds for two local charities

Our 2022 golf day at Bowood’s PGA golf course was very well attended with over seventy guests taking part from a wide range of leading businesses across the South West and beyond.

The event, which took place under blue skies, was a resounding success. Not only did everyone have a great day out on the course, but the putting competition, driving range and Trackman simulator on the Royal Troon “Postage Stamp” hole added extra excitement and even more friendly rivalry!

Most importantly though the event raised £4,000 for our two chosen local charities, Julia’s House and Greatwood Charity.

Tim Hotchkiss, the Partner who oversaw the organisation of the day commented “What a wonderful day we all had, even the weather played its part! Thanks to all our guests for their generosity and to everyone at Bowood who pulled out all the stops to guarantee an exceptional golfing experience and ensure that we raised a lot of money for two extremely good causes that are close to all our hearts.”

“What’s more, as Julia’s House are taking part in this year’s Big Give Campaign the funds we have raised for them will be doubled.”

Alice Chalmers, Business Development & Corporate Fundraiser at Julia’s House, said “We are incredibly grateful to Awdry Law for selecting Julia’s House as one of their two beneficiary charities. As the firm will be making their donation to us during The Big Give campaign, their £2,000 donation will be doubled to £4,000, which is amazing and will make a huge difference to the local seriously ill children and families that we support.

£4,000 of funding could pay for eight respite sessions for a seriously ill child with a nurse, carer and play worker for three-hours in the comfort of their own home, giving parents a much needed break. We’re delighted to have the ongoing support of the wonderful team at Awdry Law.”

Sasha Thorbek, Head of Fundraising & Communications at Greatwood Charity, commented “What an incredible donation, thank you so very much. Awdry Law’s vital support will enable us to continue to help disadvantaged children and young people look forward to a brighter and more confident future through Animal Assisted Intervention”.

“£2,000 will go towards supporting 36 one to one sessions with our former racehorses and young people from the local community with cognitive, physical, emotional and social challenges or disabilities; and ultimately help to reduce anxiety, improve self-esteem and inspire them in every aspect of their lives.”
