Career Stories

Debbie Carr-Jones

For the past forty years, I have dedicated my professional life to the field of law, working across various departments. During this time, I have gained experience in departments such as Private Client, Commercial, and Cost Drafting. However, Residential Conveyancing is where I love to be and have spent the majority of my career.

The wealth of experience I have accumulated from working in different departments has been invaluable. It equipped me with a broad understanding of the legal landscape and this diverse background has been instrumental to ensuring I could provide the best service to both lawyers and clients.

In January 2021, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to leave the Southampton area and embrace the serene beauty of the Wiltshire countryside. This move brought me to Awdry Law, where I began my journey as a secretary to the then Head of Conveyancing.

In September 2021, shortly after joining the firm, I was presented with an opportunity that marked a new chapter in my career. I was offered the chance to take over the administration for the residential conveyancing department, a role that I eagerly accepted.

In 2022, my role expanded further as I took on an additional responsibility of assisting the Compliance Department. This new dimension of my job brought immense satisfaction as it continually challenged me and provided opportunities to learn new aspects of the law. The constant growth and learning in my role have been incredibly fulfilling, making each day an exciting adventure.

Working at Awdry Law has been the highlight of my professional life. The firm stands out as the nicest and most supportive environment I have ever had the pleasure to work in. I feel genuinely appreciated and everyone I work with is so friendly.

I have worked in many firms over the past 40 years and can honestly say that since joining Awdry Law,  I would not want to work for any other law firm. I look forward to many more years of contributing to the success of the firm.
