Career Stories

Carolina Lopes

In 2016, I embarked on my professional journey at Awdry Law, starting as the Practice Manager’s Apprentice. Beginning my tenure in Devizes, I then moved over to the Royal Wootton Bassett office where I took up the role of Receptionist. It was during my time on reception that my interest in conveyancing was piqued. Assisting with conveyancing matters, I developed a keen desire to delve deeper into the field.

With no open positions in conveyancing at Awdry Law at that time, I made the difficult decision to leave and joined another local law firm as a legal secretary in conveyancing.

In November 2023, after 6 years gaining invaluable experience, I was delighted to return to Awdry Law, as a conveyancing Paralegal.

My career development at Awdry Law has been marked by a continuous desire to learn and grow. I am currently training with CILEX, with the hope of qualifying as a CILEX lawyer in the near future. This journey has been supported by Awdry Law, who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to my training and studies.

Networking has also played a significant role in my career progression. The connections I have built with other professionals have not only enhanced my personal profile within the firm but also led to a network of trusted contacts who frequently refer and recommend me to others. This has significantly boosted both my confidence and my reputation in Swindon.

What I love most about working at Awdry Law is the team spirit and camaraderie that fosters a very supportive working environment where experienced members of the team are always happy to help and address any challenging questions that arise.

Helping clients achieve their personal milestones has also been one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. Each case presents a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life.

Over the course of my time as a Paralegal, my dedication and hard work has resulted in the opportunity to manage my own caseload as a Residential Conveyancer, as of 1st April 2025.

My career at Awdry Law has been one of growth, learning, and fulfilment. The supportive environment, combined with opportunities for networking and professional development, has shaped me into a confident and capable legal professional. As I continue to pursue my aspirations of becoming a CILEX lawyer, I remain dedicated to helping clients and contributing to the success of Awdry Law.
